What is a Bitcoin block explorer?

A Bitcoin block explorer lets you inspect the Bitcoin blockchain in real time. Every transaction ever made on the Bitcoin network is permanently recorded on-chain and publicly visible. You can look up any wallet address to see its balance and transaction history, search any transaction ID to check confirmation status, or browse blocks by height to see which transactions were included.

    Understanding the Bitcoin mempool

Before a transaction is confirmed, it waits in the mempool — a pool of unconfirmed transactions held by Bitcoin nodes. Miners pick transactions from the mempool, prioritizing those with higher fees. When network activity is high the mempool grows, fees rise, and confirmation times increase. Monitoring the mempool gives you a real-time sense of Bitcoin network congestion.

    Bitcoin transaction fees explained

Fees are measured in satoshis per virtual byte (sat/vB). The fee you set determines how quickly your transaction gets confirmed. Low fees confirm within ~1 hour when the mempool is quiet. During high congestion — common after major price moves — you may need to pay 50–200+ sat/vB for next-block confirmation. This explorer shows current recommended fee tiers updated in real time.
